A few weeks ago I made this Garlic Cheesy Bread.
Simply put, it was amazing.
Garlic Cheesy Bread
What you will need:
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp honey
1 envelope active dry yeast
1 tsp salt
3 cups bread flour
canola oil to grease surfaces
3-4 slices provolone cheese
1/2 cup butter
dash of garlic powder
What to do:
1. Stir water, honey, and yeast together in a medium size mixing bowl. Let this mixture sit for at least 5 minutes. You want to make sure you give the yeast plenty of time to become active.
2. Stir in salt and then the flour in 1/4 cup increments (trust me, your arm will start hurting by the 2nd cup). Let sit again for 5 minutes. It's going to start rising already.
3. Grease the mixing bowl and the dough. Then cover the bowl with a clean towel.
4. Let the dough rise for an hour. Don't peek. It is tempting, I get it. Just don't do it. Okay? Keep yourself busy. You could make sure you have a cookie sheet ready to go and then check Facebook. Play a game. Go play in traffic. Just don't lift the towel.
5. After you have waited the hour, punch down and then divide dough in two equal pieces.
6. Roll each piece into a baguette shape. You can try to twist them to make them pretty, but it's not necessary.
7. Cover the entire cookie sheet with plastic wrap and set it on top of your oven for 30 minutes with the oven preheating to 375 degrees. Then reduce the temperature to 350, take the plastic wrap off the cookie sheet, and bake for 20 minutes.
8. While the bread is baking, melt the butter and add the garlic powder. Do as much or as little as you would like.
9. Pull the bread out after 20 minutes. Brush the buttery garlic mixture onto the bread liberally. Then bake another 7 minutes.

My bread got a little lopsided. Try to make your dough as even as possible when rolling it out. |
10. Cool the bread for 15-20 minutes (you want to be able to handle it comfortably). Then cut slits every inch or so going about 3/4 of the way through. Use a bread knife if you have one. It will be much easier.
11. Spread more of the buttery garlic mixture on the bread. Make sure you get in the slits you cut really well.
12. Break up the provolone cheese slices and put in the slits in the bread.
13. Bake another 5-7 minutes. The cheese should be just starting to brown. Serve warm.
